From 2011-2016, Intermarine UK operated across a range of UK shipyards in support of the construction of the UK’s Queen Elizabeth Class Carriers, HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales. Throughout this period, our teams of project and manufacturing experts from across Europe worked to complete the fabrication of panels, structural elements and ship modules, integrate modules into the ship’s hull and complete all hotwork and pipe system outfitting of each compartment.
Supporting the project with more than 400 skilled tradespeople, including welders, fabricators, platers, pipefitters and mechanical fitters, Intermarine UK developed a Project Team through which all works were co-ordinated. This Taskforce – Project Managers, Production Supervisors, Planners, Cost Estimators, Safety Advisors and Quality Inspectors provided full management, delivery and handover of discrete packages of work, from welding large structural assemblies in critical locations (A-frames for propeller alignment, fitting, fairing and welding all module weld butts etc.) through to the completion of all hotwork and pre-paint inspections and pressure testing of piping systems across what was at the time Europe’s largest construction project.
