Intermarine UK assembled a team of 30+ shipbuilders to support the construction of RRS Sir David Attenborough, one of the world’s most complex Deep Ocean Scientific Research Vessels.
RRS Sir David Attenborough was comissioned by The British Antarctic Survey, a department of the Natural Environment Research Council was comissioned in 2014, with its hull being laid down in 2016 and final delivery in December 2020.
Our team helped coordinate and deliver steelworks across the vessel, working on heavy structural elements as well as across minor steel supports for piping, eqipment and electrical infrastructure. Alongside our works on site at the Cammell Laird site in Birkenhead, Intermarine UK manufactured and delivered over 2000 pipe spools to site using our manufacturing base in Portland Port, Dorset, UK.
